Tying Instruction : 1) Tie on thread near hook bend. 2) Tie on squirrel tail antenna. 3) Tie on a strip of Bug Skin or Craft Leather 2-inchs long and 1/4-inch wide. 4) Tie on burnt mono eyes with an X wrap. 5) Flip hook over in vice and claws, which have been cut out of Bug Skin or Craft Leather. 6) Flip hook back over and wind thread back to beginning of fly at hook bend (in front of eyes). Dub in front of and around the eyes. 7) Tie on hackle just behind eyes. 8) Dub a thick front section for about 1/2 the hook length. Palmer hackle through dubbing. 9) At mid point of hook tie in 2lb mono (used for rib). 10) Dub the rest of the hook shank thinner than you have dubbed the first half. 11) Pull the Bug Skin over the entire fly and poke a hole through the Bug Skin at the hook eye. The hook eye should be pushed through the hole and the end tied down. 12) Rib the last half of the fly with mono and tie off. 13) Cut Bug Skin off and leave a small tail. Note : Drives smallmouth crazy! |
